Our Team

Kimberly Short

My name is Kimberly Short, and I hold a degree in Art Education from Texas State University. During my time at Texas State, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Italy, where I was immersed in the rich history of Renaissance art and the breathtaking landscapes that have inspired artists for centuries. This experience deepened my appreciation for artistic expression and greatly influenced my teaching approach today. I strive to bring that same sense of wonder, exploration, and craftsmanship into my art camps and adult workshops.

I have been deeply involved in children’s programming since 2011, serving in leadership roles within the Church’s children’s ministry and launching programs that foster creativity and connection. My passion is to create environments where kindness, curiosity, and artistic exploration flourish. I take pride in cultivating spaces where every child feels seen, valued, and encouraged to express themselves through art.

In addition to teaching, I am also a practicing artist specializing in photography, oil painting, and watercolor. My work reflects my journey with God, capturing the beauty of walking with Him, my healing journey, and the expressions of my heart. One of my greatest joys is helping children discover their own artistic voices, building their confidence, and showing them how creativity can be a powerful tool for mental health, self-expression, and connection.

I am the CEO and founder of Broken Lives Restored, a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for mental health, trauma, grief, and addiction recovery. Through this work, I believe art has the power to heal and restore, and I incorporate these values into my camps by creating safe spaces for children and adults to process their emotions and express themselves through creative outlets. I am honored to bring my experiences and passion for helping others into the world of art education, offering others a pathway to healing, self-discovery, and growth.
