Lay of the land!

Here is what your child can expect at Art Camp each day.

8:30 am and 9:00 am: Drop-off: During this time, your child(ren) is free to explore any medium set out in the art room. There will be stations available for them with various mediums from paint, including acrylic and watercolor, sketch pads with pencils/color pencils/markers, sculpting with clay/aluminum foil/cardboard, weaving/knitting/crocheting with yarn, jewelry, and a table with a science experiment to explore.

If a child comes to us with an idea, we will work alongside them to bring their vision to life. The creative process is most rewarding when children are given the freedom to explore and express themselves rather than being told exactly how to do it. We believe their art and voice are unique and important to this world. We are here to guide and support their creativity, ensuring their artwork remains their unique expression.

9:00 am-9:15 am Sketchbook time: The class will be given a prompt each day. This space is focused time for your child to be reflective, check in on how they are feeling for the day, and evaluate if they need anything. It also helps to settle them for our transition into our daily art project for the day.

9:15-10:30 am Daily Art Project: This will be different each day of the week. It will also be tied to our theme of Art Camp. Lessons that will be taught will be color theory, shapes and form, texture and patterns, composition and balance, drawing basics, 3D art and sculpting, perspective, art appreciation, self-expression, collaboration, and creativity. We make drawing robots, a fully written and illustrated storybook by them. We play many games to get the wiggles out. We believe kids are full of energy therefore we have an amazing playlist going and random dance parties are welcomed and encouraged. We aim to meet your child where they are and get to know how they are wired.

10:30 am-11:00 am Break for snack/lunch: We will provide snacks for your child. You are welcome to send your child with a lunch.

11:00 am-12:30 pm Big Art Project: We aim to bring patience and persistence into our Art Camps. The second half of class each day is focused on a large art project. We have done paper mache, created moving robots, and community art murals, built a model of a city and garden that was 3D, and create art from recycled material.

12:30 pm-1:00 pm Clean-up and exit questions for the day: Our clean-up song is “Eye of the Tiger.” We put it on and have a blast cleaning up our mess for the day. Each day a child is chosen to be a leader of the different clean-up areas (putting supplies away, wiping tables, sweeping the floor, shutting down the glue gun table). They are given a team and work together to complete the task. When we are done each day we offer the space to reflect and share for exit candy.

End of the Week (Friday): During Art Camp hours we host an art gallery where each child shares a piece of art they’re proud of, discusses their creative process, and receives encouragement from their peers through questions and affirmations. To celebrate, we enjoy a pizza party during our Express Your Art Gallery event.

One summer, we asked the kids a simple question: "What are you curious about?" Ideas flew around the room, but one stood out—"What does banana raspberry lemonade taste like?"

There was only one way to find out… so we made it! The kids combined ingredients, tasted the results, and experienced the excitement of bringing their curiosity to life (and the verdict was, it’s not very delicious!).

Here are some key things we are very intentional about while your child is in our care.

  • We are kind and loving!

We believe that kids need healthy community just as much as adults do.

We believe learning to work together and collaborate on projects creates unity and fosters problem-solving skills.

We uphold that each kid is being kind and loving and that each child is being treated with kindness and love.

Communication from instructors will always be approached in a strength-based, affirming, and gentle way.

  • We have Fun!

We believe kids are full of wonder, curiosity, imagination, and play. Our heart is to be invited into their world and experience what they want to share with us.

  • We get messy!

We ask the kids how many times have adults told them “Don’t make a mess!” Their answer is always a very loud “A LOT!” We want your child to have full permission to leave their mark in our art camps.

  • We ensure a safe environment!

The safety and well-being of your child- physically, emotionally, and creatively, is very important to us. We want this to be an experience where, each day, they feel seen, known, loved, unique, and important.
